Resources

On this page, you will find my favourite online resources for learning German. Some of them are free, some are paid. Some links on this page might be affiliate links which means I might get a commission from qualifying purchases at no extra cost for you.

Free German PDF Worksheets

You can find my German worksheets free to download on the Downloads page.

Youtube

Youtube is my number one free resource for learning German or any other foreign language. I wrote a few posts about it already and more are coming:

Italki

Italki is the online language learning platform that I recommend for everyone looking for private German classes online. I taught German on Italki for almost 2 years and used the platform as a student as well. There are many professional German teachers and community tutors to choose from and the prices are more affordable than taking an in-person class. There are native and non-native German teachers on the platform, so it’s great especially if you want to find a German teacher that speaks your language.

Lingoda

Lingoda is an online language school that offers both private and small group classes from beginner to advanced. The teachers are all native speakers.  Lingoda is also famous for their language marathons where you commit to an intensive learning schedule for 3 months and get a chance to receive a cashback when you attend all the classes.

Deutsche Welle

Deutsche Welle is another favorite of mine for free German learning resources. There is just so much good stuff on the website, from free German courses to slowly spoken news in German. They have a Youtube channel as well. I used to read their articles with my students all the time but they are also a great resource for someone who is learning German on their own because they come with tests, vocabulary lists, and transcripts for audio lectures.
